This Privacy Policy explains what information Helix Rust ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use our website, game servers, Discord, and related services, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Services, you consent to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

  • Steam profile data: when you authenticate via Steam OpenID, we receive your public Steam ID, display name, and avatar URL.
  • Purchase data: when you make a purchase, our payment processor PayNow collects payment details. We receive transaction metadata (amount, product, status) but not your full card number.
  • Game telemetry: our servers log gameplay events (kills, raids, deaths, chat messages, IP address, session duration) for moderation and leaderboard purposes.
  • Cookies: we set httpOnly session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
  • Server logs: our web infrastructure (Vercel) logs request metadata including IP address, user agent, and timestamp.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the Services.
  • To process purchases and prevent fraud.
  • To enforce server rules and investigate violations.
  • To compute leaderboards and statistics (publicly displayed under your Steam display name).
  • To communicate updates, outages, or major changes via Discord announcements.

3. Sharing

We share data only with:

  • PayNow — for payment processing.
  • Steam — for OpenID authentication.
  • Discord — when you choose to link your account or open a support ticket.
  • Vercel — our hosting and CDN provider.
  • Law enforcement — when required by valid legal process.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Retention

Account and purchase records are retained while your account is active and for up to 7 years afterward for tax and fraud-prevention purposes. Game telemetry older than 12 months is anonymized.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Contact us via Discord to make a request. Note that deletion may forfeit any remaining subscription time and cannot be reversed.

6. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us so we can delete it.

7. International Transfers

Helix Rust is operated from the United States. By using the Services from outside the US, you consent to your information being processed in the US.

8. Changes

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be announced in our Discord community.
